If the term "Serentity" ever suited a location, it's the Mount Cook View Motel, the Motel's setting in Fox Glacier is at the base of Mount Cook. The Mount Cook View Motel is a one minute drive from the highway down a Dead End Road, so there is no passing traffic noise. The motel has a ranch/farm like setting in a unique leafy & grassy enviroment that leaves (not meant as a pun) you feeling at one with the environment & nature. The silence is almost deafening as you try & take in all the spectacular surroundings of snow capped peaks, clouds snagged on jagged mountain tops, in a spacious farmland retreat. Anyone trying to escape the hustle & bustle of the city, anyone who wants to write their own Tolstoy "War & Peace" novel or just wants to escape from the kids for a quite weekend. Well this is the place for that. Fox Glacier town has restaurants, shops & stores, all that one needs for a weekend away with nature. We had a cabin type apartment, seperate bedroom, bathroom, kitchen & backyard patio with views you just have to experience to believe. All that & with parking at the door & an attached laundry next door. SENERITY NOW.

Beautiful motel, nicely located close to the town centre meant everything was just minutes away. The room itself was very spacious and the beds were more than comfy. The view of Mount Tasman and Mount Cook from the room was to die for. The covered car parking just next to the house was an added bonus. The laundry was just a unit away making it very accessible. The two friendly dogs - Tarn and Beamish - were the centre of attraction for our kids who loved playing with them all day long. We have some very fond memories of this place. The staff was very warm, helpful and proactive in restocking the items even before we asked them which was in complete contrast to our experience in so many other places in NZ. Overall, this might be the best motel in the Fox Glacier and we certainly are looking forward to staying here on our next trip.

The owner was incredibly amiable, going above and beyond by preparing our room in advance—he even turned on the heater and lights to welcome us, making it feel cozy right from the start. We appreciated the flexibility with check-in and check-out times, which made our stay even more relaxing. The room was spacious and well-equipped with a heater and an electric blanket, perfect for the chilly evenings. Parking was a breeze, right in front of our room. The owner also suggested a great spot to visit nearby, which really made our trip memorable. We highly recommend Mt Cook View Motel for its warm hospitality, convenience, and incredible mountain views!

The accommodation is first class with all of the essential amenities provided within a very comfortable and modern motel room. The motel itself is within a short driving distance to the main attraction of the area including Lake Matheson, Lake Gault, Gillespies Beach and the Fox Glacier views. I would recommend Mount Cook View Motel to anyone who just wants a few nights at Fox Glacier, or like me would like to spend a week surrounded by the stunning mountain scenery of the West Coast.

I'm very grateful and appreciative of the lovely reception lady, whose name is Renata. I left my headphones in the bed and realised it only the next day, when we were hundreds of miles away. I wrote to the motel and got a response immediately. The lady promised to send the headphones back to my UK address! I was very happy as the headphones were a gift from my brother. I offered to pay for the delivery, but when I got it, it turned out the postage had already been made. I was really amazed at the great service! We also loved the location of the motel, and the views were magnificent.
